What is Dabke?

Dabke is a line dance from the Levant. Danke is danced across Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan for generations, usually at weddings and celebrations. It's built on synchronized footwork: a line of people, shoulders or hands linked, stomping and stepping in time to the same beat. Often there's a raas (leader) at the head of the line who breaks off into improvised footwork while everyone else holds the rhythm.

What the class is

This is a beginner class, built for  anyone who wants too try dable.

You'll start with the foundational steps then build into basic combinations and directional changes. No rhythm background required, no partner required, no experience with Arabic music required.

It also happens to be a real workout: footwork-driven cardio, stamina, coordination, and lower-body endurance, without it feeling like a workout.

Performance opportunities

For anyone who wants to take it further, there will be opportunities to perform at various events. Participation is optional and open to those who want it once they're ready.
